The User Research Round-Up: CW 51
Beyond UX Design, A bad job at qualitative research, Typical no-show rates, JTBD with AI, & Ongoing user research at SaaS companies
Hello curious human,
Holiday starts for me on December 21st and I couldn’t be more excited for some time off. I’ve been working hard on creating something super cool that will launch in Jan 2025: An AI UXR Prompt Library. Sign up for the waitlist (+ early-bird discount) below:
I’ll have at least 50 copy-and-paste prompts in there that I use in my day-to-day user research work to help you become more efficient and focus more on driving business decisions! Super excited for this!
No other news to share for now, so on to the show:
Where I’m speaking next:
UXTweak - Live Q&A: Driving Business Decisions with UX Research ROI (January 22nd) — I’ll be answered any and all questions in this hour-long live session on how to use UXR to drive and impact business decisions!
UX360 Virtual Research Summit (February 19th - 20th) — I’ve spoken at this conference quite a few times and it’s always lined up with amazing, thought-provoking talks…and you can wear sweatpants (lol, I’ll be!). You can grab 15% off your ticket with code NKA15.

Beyond UX Design* (Book) by Jeremy Miller
If you’ve been feeling like your research could have a bigger impact, this book is for you. Beyond UX Design goes beyond the usual frameworks and gets into how researchers can shape strategy, build better organizational alignment, and influence the really big decisions. Jeremy breaks down how to step out of the “research bubble” and become a strategic partner in your team. I love how it’s practical but still challenges you to think bigger about your role. This is a great read if you’re ready to level up and make your research indispensable.
*Just a heads-up, this is an affiliate link, which means I get commission from each purchase with that link. Jeremy, however, is a good friend and wonderful person in the field, so I am a huge personal fan of his work :)
